... just strung together, somehow.

For many years I have been constantly tinkering with electronics and software.  My job requires me to know a lot about UNIX/Linux and about computer hardware, so I do some self education at home.   That's the "official" explanation, but in truth this is a hobby which has gotten completely out of control ... it's fun!

This personal website is glued and tied and taped and soldered together from lots of random bits and pieces of hardware and software.   It has the delightful look and feel of a junkyard most of the time.   I have used lots of different software and hand-written HTML as a learning experience.   The site uses Frames (which some people don't like) simply because I can do it.   I don't use browser cookies because I don't like them (and don't need them).

Almost all of the hardware is homebrew, because it's fun building computers from scratch.

Geeky Stuff ...

Click Here  to see a diagram of the network here at the 'bluenose' site

Click Here  to get current, accurate time and to see which part of the earth is in daylight.

Click Here  to find out about time-of-day clock accuracy and synchronization at this site.

How many times has my home page been visited, and who has been visiting? (including you!)  Click on the 'Who has Visited' link near the bottom of the navigation frame on the left.   I use my own custom-designed hit-counter CGI script which was initialized 15Feb1998 .
